Grand Opening Day

We had a great assortment of vendors for the Grand Opening Day. 12 booths in all! Yeah!! :) The market consisted of Farm vendors with flower and vegetable plants, home canned goods, homebaked goods, fudge, meat, soaps, natural body products, homemade children's dresses, and handwoven baskets. Flea vendors sold crafts, books, tools, dishes, novelties and jewelry. Yardsale vendors sold clothing, shoes, toys, books, wall decor, shelves and much, much more! Local non-profits were on site selling books, t-shirts, bags and hosting a kayak raffle...the winner of the Loon 111 was Ziner of Searsport.
Stony Knolls Farm brought a few goats and gave samples of some really yummy Chevon Chili to market shoppers...goatmeat of course!
Mary's Gardens brought in Jenny...the wayward donkey! (She's really a hinny...offspring of a male horse and female donkey) Jenny was the hinny that was on the loose in Pittsfield for about a month this past winter. She was a market favorite with children and adults alike.
A 50/50 was also held to support the market..proceeds will help to buy a more permanent sign for the Market. The winner was Trish of Vassalboro.

We had a good first week. Business seemed slow to start but we were encouraged by the vendors that came. We also have some great events scheduled throughout the season and are excited about what's to come! Some of the vendors wanted to be able to stay on Saturday until 2:00. Okayed for now but will take an official vote at the P&R meeting on Monday, June 4th.
